Opportunity: “a good chance for advancement or progress.”

As I continue on my Social Media journey and am creating more of a presences on the Internet, it seems that I am getting more and more opportunity?  Now as the definition above states: “a good chance for advancement or progress”.  What I am wondering is this a good chance for advancement or progress for me or the person that is offering the opportunity?  It seems that I am bombarded daily with emails and webinar invitations from Facebook, to the latest and greatest opportunity, that is either going to change my life or make my business run on autopilot and make my life easier?  I am sure you can relate.

As I have said in other posts, I have started several of my own businesses and have had success and failure in doing so.  One of the biggest things that I have learned over the years is that you must do your due diligence, before perusing that Opportunity.  In the present day that can mean from joining the latest and greatest online business opportunity to buying a software package that is going to bring you a flood of new leads.  One of our biggest triggers to purchasing some thing is our emotions.  Most sales are made because we begin to think from a emotional stand point rather than a rational mind set.  For example “if you join my new business opportunity today you will not only be part of the greatest opportunity available today, you will receive the following bonuses worth $2000 dollars, so actually the $599 you are spending is making you money!  But this is for a limit number for my favorite internet friends and will be available for only a short time!”  Makes you laugh when see it in this light, doesn’t it?  But in reality we receive these emotional charged offers daily!

What we need to do is set back and evaluate these opportunities for what they are, do your due diligence.  Take your emotions out of the equation as hard as it might be and look at that new opportunity for what it really is.  If it is a business opportunity; are you truly interested in this opportunity, or how much money they say you can make, with the “fast start” program?  Is this new business something you will enjoy doing?  Will the product or service truly benefit your client? Think about these things logically!  I know that this can take most of the fun out of the equation, but this is about making a sound business decision not about emotion.

If you are looking at product to help you with your business, you need to use the same fundamentals.  First and foremost you must remove your emotions from the purchasing equation.  Will the product truly benefit your business?  Is there other products that will do the same thing for less?   Are you considering buying the product for its value to your business or do you want the value added bonuses?  What kind of support is available for the product?  Is the 60 day money back guarantee for real?

These are just a few things to consider when making this kind of a decision.  My biggest piece of advice is to take your time and keep your emotions as far away from your decision making process as possible.  If the opportunity is for a “limited time only”, than more than likely there will be another “limited time only” offer coming your way with yet another new and improved product or opportunity in tomorrow’s email!

I hope you enjoyed this post, if you did please pass it on.

Sincerely
